Let’s talk about shirts!
Ok so a high end quality shirt is often a good start to making wardrobe on fire for a styled Headshot.. but there are a few simple things that you can do to look your best even if your budget doesn’t allow the price tag!
IRON IRON IRON IRON!
Let’s be brutally honest here.. I’m an ex Forces man! (Royal Marines Commando…. an added little something you may not have known about me bonus) so one of my pet peeves is an Un- ironed shirt… and Adelaide seems to be the capital of Crinkles-Ville!
If you’re investing in a professional Headshot the easiest and cheapest thing you can do to lift your game is to get the press out… Get the steam pumping and put the heat on this thing!
Pay extra attention to those collars, make the turnover nice and sharp! No one wants flat laying collars that make our shirts look like they have come straight out of the 70’s closet.
LOSE THE BAGGIES!
Again another tip that is inexpensive to looking sharp is making sure your shirt fits! I know having your Headshot can feel like a pretty unnerving event and to some can feel similar to some extreme sports buildup! However… It’s not skydiving! Leave your parachute at home, the studio has no side door and is only on level 6 so not even high enough for Base jumping.
Make sure you have enough room to breathe in that thing, so not too tight, we don’t want blushes, but we don’t want it flapping in the wind. Go speak to a tailor or assistant in the shops, they are always more than ready to help size you up.
The right fit makes all the difference in look great!
LASTLY… BUTTON UP!
You are not Elvis! So as a rule of thumb, (with a few exceptions of style, when wearing a shirt without tie, it’s just top button undone for a dress shirt.. no further! No requirement for chest hair and medallions on show here… keep it family friendly!
It just keeps everything tight and smart and looking sharp!
