No image.. No connection!
What do you think when you see a LinkedIn profile without an image? I’ll take a guess at “Mustn’t be very active.”
On a social media platform, specially one that is for professionals, projecting a sense of ‘Activity’ is so important. We are busy, we sometimes don’t even have much time to connect to people that are motivated, so we are certainly not going to put our time into people who are not actively engaged!
It’s not as hard or scary as you think. Snap a nice clean picture of your face wearing your professional attire, pop it onto your profile, then make sure your privacy settings allow your image to be seen publicly and your done.. happy connecting and engaging!
The next thing is to try to avoid using an image that is not so professional. I see a lot of profile headshots that have been clearly cropped out of wider shots, like at events or personal gatherings. These can often appear like a last ditch attempt. The truth is, the more deliberate you are with your profile headshot the more people will feel that you are present and mean business.
