When creating an image, specially a professional corporate photo that is designed to bring attention and gain trust, one thing that helps to makes a great image has always been about what you leave outside of the frame just as much as what you put in it! Don’t over complicate things, keep it simple and keep it effective!
Composition and framing is key and plays a huge part in creating an image that is dynamic and engaging. You’ll notice that our images are not in the standard portrait orientation and we flip our frame into landscape, to us we feel this creates that dynamic feel that leaves so many standard portraits feeling flat. Negative space in an image is so important to help let the subject breathe, theres nothing worse than a cramped image.
As a studio photographer, like other visual arts, painting, sculpture drawing etc, where the creator starts with a blank canvas and builds the image piece by piece to create a strong image, I create images that need to bring attention. I have the ability to start with a blank canvas, my white, grey, black and even my hand painted backdrops and build our images from scratch keeping our images simple without distractions, giving our subject as much attention as needed.
